  • Axiomatic Set Theory by Tom Leinster. Doing this year 11 enrichment work has reignited the mathematical part of my brain (these are sad words coming from a maths teacher), and I’ve been teaching the year 11s a little about sets, and mentioned to them that most mathematicians never actually study formal set theory. Tom Leinster is currently working on this set theory course, a perfect opportunity to remedy my own set theory ignorance. This complete course in axiomatic set theory is the first of its kind: it uses the Elementary Theory Of The Category Of Sets, rather than the ZFC axiomatisation that has been dominant for the last 100 years, and does so without requiring a background in category theory (though certainly, it’s an easier read with this background!). I’ve been really enjoying reading it.
